The Berlin University Alliance - four strong partners
The Berlin University Alliance – 580 degree programs, 100,000 students and some 1,700 professors in the very heart of the German capital. The Alliance is much more, however, than these impressive statistics: It is the basis for a successful and developing collaboration between four strong partners: Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and Technische Universität Berlin as well as Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin.
The alliance of the three universities and Charité – Universitätsmedizin contributes to making Berlin a leading center of science and research in Germany and Europe and a major attraction for students and academics from all over the world. In Berlin today, researchers work together successfully in seven Clusters of Excellence and numerous projects and institutions such as the Einstein Center Digital Future (ECDF) and the Weizenbaum Institute for the Networked Society.
This network of cooperation was strengthened through the official creation of the Berlin University Alliance in 2018. The goal is to combine areas of strength to create opportunities for new and innovative research projects and to help shape the future together. It is an alliance from which everyone stands to benefit: science, research, and teaching, Berlin and its economy, society and people.
The main fields of action in which the Alliance will be active include appointment strategy, the promotion of junior scholars, selected research initiatives, the use of resources and infrastructure, and the transfer of knowledge. By jointly developing resources, the partners seek to bring together strategic processes, support each other in recruiting the best minds for Berlin as a center of science and research, and create ideal conditions for research and teaching.
