Free-Falling Unit

Free-Falling Unit (FFU)

The experiment consists of a nearly fully functioning 1U CubeSat known as the FFU which is ejected from the rocket by the RBE, which sits inside a section of the rocket designated for the experiment called the Experiment Module. The FFU payload consists of a set of five HISPs, which are CubeSat standard-size side panels each of which contain a pFDA, a magnetorquer, a gyro, a sun sensor, and magnetometer. The HISPs are entirely developed and integrated at TU Berlin. Additionally, the FFU contains a SDR-based communications subsystem which will be used to perform simplex communication experiments with the ground station during the post-ejection phase of the experiment.
